Kaup, Jan 4: “The union government is making preparations to break Hindus and unity in the country through CAA, NRC and NPR,” said veteran thinker Faniraj.
He was speaking in mass protests held by secular citizen committee Kaup in the participation of various organizations against NRC, CAA and NPR at Kaup market on Saturday, January 4.
“The Citizenship Amendment Act that is being implemented by the union government is an attempt to break the unity of citizens. It is necessary to give citizenship to people of those communities who are being separated on the basis of votes and becoming victims of atrocities,” he said.
Social thinker and journalist Harsha Kumar said that there are campaigns throughout the country against new Acts and are becoming victims for raising their voice. “Innocent Muslims are becoming victims of religion based politics of BJP and it is necessary for us to unite and campaign against it,” he said.
Secular citizen committee president Dr Deviprasad Shetty said that the Act which the centre is preparing to implement is completely against the constitution. “The Act does not affect Muslims alone but it will cause problems to Christians at its second stage and Hindus at its third stage. We are bound to be its victims if the people do not wake up now,” he said.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, JDS district president Yogish Shetty, Shekhar Hejmady, Ashok Kumar Kodavooru, former MLA U R Sabhapathi, comrade Vishwanath Rai, comrade Balakrishna Shetty, Fr William Martis, Udupi district Ulama union’s Ashraf Sakhafi Kannangar, Kaup block Congress president Navinchandra Suvarna and leaders of various organizations were present.
