Bengaluru, Dec 3: Former chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the good fortunes he had promised if BJP comes to power in Centre and State.
Coming down heavily for not announcing flood relief to the state, Siddaramaiah told reporters on Friday that the people of the state were looking forward for the relief and by not uttering a word he ‘betrayed’ Karnataka.
"Forget about opening the doors of good fortune, he did not even open the doors of his house to the leaders of his own party,” Siddaramaiah said.
Calling Yediyurappa as a weak chief minister, he said that 25 BJP MPs and a CM from BJP could only get Rs 1,200 crore as flood relief. “The CM should have pressured the Centre to declare Karnataka floods as a national calamity. He should have demanded Rs 36,000 crore. But he failed,” Siddaramaiah said.
Modi’s two-day visit to Karnataka ended on Friday, after attending various programmes at Tumakuru and Bengaluru.
Over 103 taluks in 22 districts of Karnataka, were affected with floods and over 80 were killed.
He accused the PM for neglecting Karnataka, despite CM Yediyurappa raising the issue. Over 80 were killed. As many as 103 taluks and 22 districts were affected by floods. More than seven lakh people had to be rehabilitated.
He also questioned the need of PM giving a ‘dirty political speech’ in front of schoolchildren of Siddaganga Mutt on Thursday. “What was the need and relevance to speak against Congress and about Pakistan, CAA and NRC in front of them? It was a dirty political speech, not the one to speak in front of children. For Modi everywhere it is politics,” he said.
“Agreed that Pakistan is an evil nation..but (what) are you doing against the minorities here, Mr Modi," Siddaramaiah he questioned.
The PM using his ‘good speaking’ skills to divert people from real issues. "Congress was not opposing Parliament as claimed by Modi or the position of the Prime Minister. Modi led government has lost its "sensitivity". We are only agitating against the divisive politics of BJP,” he stressed.
