Bengaluru: CM exhibits nerves of steel, demands flood compensation from PM

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 3: Defying the general picture painted by the opposition leaders that chief minister B S Yediyurappa lacks the guts to put forth a vociferous demand for flood fund from the central government, the chief minister, on Thursday January 2, openly demanded fair share of money for the state to combat devastation let loose by unprecedented flood situation it had faced.

For this act, Yediyurappa has earned the goodwill and praise of the people from different fields. During his address at the Kissan Samman function held on Thursday January 2 at Tumakuru, Yediyurappa told Modi that the state had been battered by incessant drought and flood. He said that the state had lost heavily in the floods here but the centre had not come to the state's rescue even though he had reminded it on several occasions.

The central leaders have realized that Yediyurappa has a huge following, going by the fact that he was the most prominent factor which helped the party to win bypoll convincingly. As he has proved his mettle, the central leaders seem to be having a soft corner for him. The leaders had planned to rein in Yediyurappa by forcing him to admit three deputy chief ministers but now they have mellowed down because of Yediyurappa’s show of eminence. Perhaps, encouraged by the turn of events, Yediyurappa was vocal in demanding funds from the centre.

BJP must stop taking Karnataka (lotus in the south) for granted. Every other state in the south has strengthened regional party against hegemony of National party. Karnataka may also take this route.

Karnataka stands 5th in collection of taxes. While Indian unemployment today is 8.9%, Karnataka state unemployment is only 0.9% as per some report. Karnataka had devastating loss due to floods, but, Modi is playing truant on compensation. One can see only big big fake talk and nothing else.

He said India has crossed Germany in economy. While our population is 130 cr, they are only about 8.2 cr and their per capita income is 6 times that of India. PMC bank, FM said 78% of the people can get their money, whereas the money of 78% is less than 10% of total deposits. That means 90% of deposits are of 22% of people. Nobody wants to tell the truth that only RBI could allow in 3 months, is only 9.8% of the deposits.

Outside India, we get conflicting reports. While, in India, PM says our economy is good, why the people in Canada collect money for blankets for Indians in north suffering from cold ? Why here we get requests from India, for donation to feed hungry children ? Whether a person from India is an NRI or PIO, he has love in his heart for India and will always help our people. The papers here and BBC give realistic picture of our country, but, PM, HM and FM are only showing one side of it.

Chaiwala feku and daku are the most arrogant politicians the country has seen so far. Though our chaddi yeddi made the mention of compensation to flood victims, chaiwala totally ignored this point during his speech.

Flood compensation will not be given to Karnataka as the changu and mangu of balatkari party treat the BJP leaders of Karnataka as dust of their shoes.

Keep on saying Jai Modi and get only Babaji Ka Tullu

CM Yediyurappa should stand stubborn when state interest is concerned.

He will get wide support if he sticks to the stand and fight for it.

Appreciate BSY' s true concern for the people of the state; he proved it again that welfare of the people is more important to him than the Power and central leaders application.
He demanded flood relief and complained non receipt from center, despite reminder in the open meeting chaired by P.M Modi! Hats off to him!

Well, Modi doesn't seem to care which only shows that the people of karnataka do not matter, because anyways they'll vote for bjp. And yeddyurappa doing all this shows how hard he is trying to cling on to his seat.

    Appreciated here is for, C.M. BSY's serious concern and open demand for Center's share of compensation for flood and drought hit people of Karnataka;
even at the cost of his image with central leadership and chair! No politics here!
About Votes..... Never in the history of any country, voting pattern always remained constant!
Choice keeps changing according to party's performance and people's appetite for change of guard.
If voting pattern would remain constant, why any country need election exercise?

Yedyurappa might be having so many drawbacks. He might be corrupt and he might have gone to jail but to be fair to him, he has a soft corner for the poor and I appreciate his gumption to stand up to Modi and demand compensation for the flood affected people. However, I am not too sure about the centre's response to his appeal. If Modi had fifty percent of the good qualities of Yeddyurappa, he would have given the compensation by now. Yeddyurappa is much more kind hearted than the PM. After all, he is a Kannadiga and his heart beats for Kannadigas. How will Modi understand the pain of the people? If it was Gujarat, it would have been a different story. It is so sad that even after months of the damage caused by the floods, the centre is turning a deaf ear and a blind eye to the appeals of our state.
