Bengaluru, Jan 2: Karnataka government has taken an important step in the direction of increasing the awareness in school children about the Constitution of India. It has sent an official order in this regard asking all schools to read the preamble to India during the morning prayers in schools.
The order also says that all the students have to repeat the words of preamble after one reads the same. The government has also instructed the schools to invite an expert of constitution, who is under the limits of school and present a special lecture on the Constitution and thereby create awareness among the students.
Government has already ordered the celebration of Constitution Day on November 26 of every year. Now, as a continuation of that it has asked the schools to make sure to read the preamble of the constitution every day during prayer.
The preamble of Indian constitution says, "WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
In Our Constituent Assembly this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do Hereby Adopt, Enact And Give To Ourselves This Constitution."
