Byndoor, Dec 31: “BJP before elections had indirectly made a mention of their policy of dividing and ruling Hindus and Muslims for political gains. The centre has brought it now to the fore by CAB and NRC Acts. It has indulged in strengthening Hindu vote bank portraying that the Acts are only to solve Muslim issue,” said DYFI Karnataka state president Munir Katipalla.

He was speaking after leading protests held by Shiroor CAA and NRC opposition campaign committee in front of Shiroor gram panchayat on Monday.

“It is wrong to assume that CAB and NRC will cause issues only to Muslims. While the poor, backward class people and Adivasis are finding impossible to prove their citizenship, will it be easy to provide citizenship to those who come from other countries? It is a tussle between ordinary people and the government which protects the interests of the rich,” he said.

Bidji Aboobacker presided. Karavali SDPI Dakshina Kannada district secretary Iqbal Bellare, Byndoor block Congress president Madankumar Uppunda, CPIM Byndoor’s Venkatesh Koni and Kundapur Working Journalists’ Association president Shashidhar Hemmadi also addressed the gathering. H S Siddik, Anwar Shirur, Noor Mohammed, Mulla Faruk, Sadke Sayyid, Karani Mohammed and others were present.
