Kundapur: Pickpocket held during CM's programme

Kundapur, Dec 30: During a programme organized at Nempu Karnataka Public School ground in Karkunje village in the taluk on Saturday evening in which Karnataka chief minister, B S Yediyurappa, participated, a person quietly stole the money from another person's pocket.

Ramesh Kotian from Ambalpady, Udupi, who had attended the programme, was walking back towards the parking lot after the programme ended, when he saw that people were jostling for space at the exit gate. He felt that the person behind him was placing his hand into his back pocket and was stealing the purse. He touched the spot and found that Rs 18,000 he had kept in the trousers pocket had vanished.

When he shouted that the man had stolen his money, the people around the spot caught hold of the thief and handed him over to the police. The man who was taken away by the police has been identified as Gurumurthi (40) from Shikaripur in Shivamogga district. The police who have registered a case, are investigating.
