Mangaluru: Light showers expected in district for two days

Mangaluru, Dec 30: On account of sudden variation in climate observed over the Bay of Bengal, several parts of coastal Karnataka have been experiencing light rain coupled with thunder and lightening. Light showers are expected to continue for two more days. 
 
Some clouds got diverted to coastal Karnataka from the direction of Bay of Bengal on account of sudden climatic variation. This rain is part of normal secondary monsoon and not untimely, the meteorological department said. 
 
 
Research scientist in Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Dr C S Prabhu, stated that there are chances of northeast monsoon continuing till the first week of January because of disturbances over the Bay of Bengal. Parts of Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Dakshina Kannada districts are expected to get light rains even on Monday and the climate will return to normalcy within a couple of days, he stated.
