Israel Warns of Possible Attacks against Israelis in India

Jerusalem, Sep 18 (DPA) Israel's Counter Terrorism Bureau warned Thursday night that the group of militants responsible for the Nov 26, 2008 attacks in Mumbai was planning to carry out more attacks across India, especially sites with a large concentration of Western and Israeli tourists.

A statement issued by the bureau said the threat was "concrete and very high".

The bureau recommended that Israelis currently in India stay away from areas crowded with Western and Israeli tourists, especially places that have no visible armed security.

The statement also advised Israelis currently in India to take precautions and remain alert.

India is a popular destination for young Israelis who complete their compulsory military service and wish to travel before beginning university or work.
