Mangaluru: Rain at Mulky Kambala - Valuable electronic goods damaged, pandals tumble

Mangaluru, Dec 29: Arasu Kambala in Mulky region, which is credited to be the Kambala that attracts highest participation by people, was held on Saturday November 28 but untimely rain which lashed the area at around 7 pm played spoilsport. Shamiyanas and pandals crumbled while electronic items including LED lights were damaged, causing loss to the extent of lacs of rupees.

When the people were viewing the Kambala, untimely rain appeared all of a sudden. Thousands of people were watching the proceedings under the cover of pandals erected all around the Kambala field. The Shamianas and pandals fell down due to rain. One of the pandals fell intoo the slushy field. As volunteers immediately jumped into action and rescued the people, no one was hurt.

Several channels were airing the event and direct telecast by YouTube channel also had been arranged. Electronic equipment used for the purpose were damaged due to rain. The Kambala had to be stopped for about an hour before resuming it at 9.45 pm.
