Udupi, Dec 28: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha received suggestions and complaints from public on various issues at a pre-budgetary meeting held at Sathyamurthy meeting Hall CMC Udupi here on Friday, December 27.
Responding to a question on pollution of Indrani rivulet, he said that a tender has been called for water cleaning from Kalsanka to Malpe beach. “We have instructed to stop releasing contaminated water to the river after conducting UGD survey,” he said. He ensured that serious action will be taken on those discharging polluted water.
“We will issue notice through CMC over poor maintenance of bus stands in the city,” said the DC. He asked detailed report from CMC officials and also about total number of private and CMC maintained bus stands.
“Today, the number of immigrants are increasing. So they need hygiene public toilets. They need to be constructed in main places,” he said.
Responding to disilting of Baje dam and city people not getting proper water due to irregular electricity supply, the DC said, “We will discuss it with Mescom officials and find solution for the same.”
Addressing another serious problem of plastic supply, the DC said, “If we see manufacturing plastic, even after the ban, it will be considered as serious issue and necessary action will be taken against such companies.”
“If we found loopholes in wastage disposal, we will address it soon,” he said.
Over public complaints of lack of vehicle parking places in the city, the DC said, “A multi-lane parking complex is necessary as there is increase in number of vehicles. If we get suitable land, we will go for an action plan immediately.”
Other issues like street lights, LED bulbs, and problems of street vendors, were discussed.
CMC commissioner Anand Kollilikar, Nirmithi center project director Arun Kumar, and Youth Empowerment and Sports department assistant director Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty were present.
