Mangaluru, Dec 26: Chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, inaugurated 'Prakashabinandana', a grand programme to celebrate completion of 60 years of age of entrepreneur Prakash Shetty, here at Goldfinch City, Kulur, on 25th December.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yediyurappa said, "Prakash Shetty is a successful businessman. He has come from a poor background and is leading example to prove that one can reach great heights in hotel business through hard work. Even the hotels he has built are in prime locations and Prakash Shetty was honoured with 'Rajyotsava award'. Prakash Shetty also donates to the needy and he has been such an inspiration," he stated.
Home minister, Basavaraj Bommai, said, "Prakash Shetty sees god in his work and has achieved a lot in hotel business. Prakash Shetty helps the needy and wipes the tears of the poor. Prakash Shetty is an inspiration for all. This is one of the biggest birthday celebrations I have ever seen in my life".
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "This programme is organised on such a grand scale and large number of people have gathered here not because of Prakash Shetty's richness, hotel business and for Kannada Rajayotsava award, but because of his kindness and helping the needy and wiping the tears of the poor.
Minister for Kannada and culture and tourism C T Ravi said," Prakash Shetty was not born rich, he has faced lot of difficulties and strived hard to reach till this level. What he has earned he has donated to the needy and helped the poor. I have requested Prakash Shetty to start free IPS, IAS and KAS coaching centre so that poor students will get benefit out of it and Prakash Shetty has assured to start one such centre soon".
Kannada actor Yash said, "Prakash Shetty has been growing younger with each passing year and is becoming smarter. We have a mindset that when a business achieves something, the entrepreneur would have made money, but the businessman who rotates money, creates employment and does development needs to be respected. Prakash Shetty has always been an inspiration. I need to appreciate Mangalureans as you people work hard and you go anywhere and survive and start any kind of business.
Meanwhile CM Yediyurappa released 'Hombelaku Abhinanadana' book written by Prathap Shetty.
On this occasion, Prakash Shetty handed over cheque of Rs 26 lac to Beltangady MLA Harish Poonja for helping the Beltangady flood effected people.
Meanwhile 15 achievers from various fields, Dr Amruth Someshwar (Litreature), Dr B M Hegde (Medicine), Dr Chandrashekar Shetty (Medicine), Dr Suneetha Shetty (Litreature), Appana Hegde Basrur (Social service), Jaya Suvarna (Social service), R N Shetty (Social service) , Jagannath Shetty Pune (Social service), M N Rajendra Kumar (Co-operative sector), L G Soans (agriculture), Simanthoor Narayana Shetty (Yakshagana), Govinda Bhat Surikumeru (Yakshagana), Bannaje Sanjeeva Suvarna (Yakshagana) , Koteshwara Laxminarayana Acharaya (Sculpture), Bola Subbaiah Shetty (social service), Sara Aboobakkar (Litreature) , Narayana Rao Padubidiri (Religious field) and Nagara Narayana Shenoy (Sports), were honoured by presenting gold medals.
Prior to formal function cultural event, Yakshgana Vaibava, was presented by Patla Sathish Shetty, cultural programme was presented by the students of Alva’s College and musical programme by music director Arjun Janya, Vijay Prakash was held.
