Bengaluru, Dec 25: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah Wednesday December 25 took to Twitter to criticize chief minister B S Yediyurappa for backtracking on his earlier announcement of ex-gratia to the families of the two people who died in the recent anti-CAA protest in Mangaluru.
"You have passed your judgment even before the investigation is complete. You have declared that the two people who died in the shootout are responsible for the Mangaluru riots. Then why have you ordered a CID probe to investigate the shooting incident? Instead of doing unnecessary drama, kindly stop the probe,” Siddaramaiah lashed out.
He also termed the Karnataka government as ‘inhumane’ and ‘cruelly communally’. "With your statements, it is very clear that you are responsible for ordering the police firing," alleged Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah’s tweets came after Yediyurappa declaring on Wednesday that the two killed in the police firing were among the accused in the incident and compensation can be announced only if the duo turn out to be innocent during the investigation.
On Monday, the state government had constituted a magisterial enquiry and CID probe over the Mangaluru violence. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the chief minister’s office had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lac to the families of Jaleel and Nausheen who died in the police firing. However, Yediyurappa stopping the compensation contradicts the CID probe he himself ordered, pointed out Siddaramaiah.
