Mangaluru, Dec 24: “Police had shot and killed two innocent men in the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act in Mangaluru. Detailed judicial investigations should be held in this connection and the families of the deceased victim should be paid suitable compensation. The matter will be urged in Kerala Vidhan sabha and Loksabha sessions,” said Mannarakkad, Kerala MLA Samshuddin. He was speaking in the news conference held in Thokkottu after visiting the houses of the victims on Monday.
“Police have shot at two innocent men against law in the protests against the act in Mangaluru. We have visited Karnataka ADGP and Mangaluru police commissioner and held discussions with them in this connection. Restrictions imposed on journalists from Kerala who had arrived to prepare a report about the men who were shot are the murder of democracy,” he alleged.
The MLA said that the truth will be out after impartial judicial investigations. “There are false allegations that Malayalis from Kerala are involved in stone throwing incidents. However there is not even a single Malayali among the injured and undergoing treatment in hospital. We have come to Mangaluru to provide clarifications in this connection. News reporters from Kerala who have come to prepare a report on post-mortem are arrested. Arrests on false accusations amount to snatching the freedom of media. It is most worrying and condemnable,” he said.
Manjeshwar MLA M C Kamaruddin, Malappuram Kutyadi Parakkal MLA Abdulla, Youth league Karnataka state president Siddik Talapady, South Kanara district Muslim league president Tabook Abdurrahiman Darimi, South Kanara Youth League president Sayyad Afuham Tanjal, MSF national treasurer Naushad Malar and Manjeshwar Youth league president Saifulla Tanjal were present.
