Bengaluru: KONCAB brings in Christmas spirit with members

Media Release

Bengaluru, Dec 22:
The Konkan Samudai Bhavana at Kalyan Nagar was decorated with stars, lights jingles and the Christmas tree to celebrate the annual Christmas program organized by KONCAB for its members on December 20.

The programme started with the invocation of God’s blessings by Fr Stephen Periera followed by the welcome speech by KONCAB president Arun Fernandes. Cake and wine was served soon after the presidential address.

There was an Inter Zonal competition held within the members where the members were divided into 3 zones. Norbert & Karen were invited as judges along with Fr Stephen, for the competitions.  As part of the competitions, young children dressed up as the shepherds, angels, Mary, Joseph and the kings adorned the stage from each zone. This was followed by the Carol Singing competition between the zones.

Each zone presented 4 carols sung harmoniously along with various musical instruments. It was indeed difficult for the judges to single out the best team as all the zones gave an astounding performance.

The carol singing was followed by a splendid Tableau presented by the children of the KONCAB members. Nora Menezes and Navya Monteiro had put the children together and trained them over the past few weeks for the performance.

The results were announced for the competitions soon after the tableau. Zone A led by Sunil D’Cunha stood third, Zone C led by Rita Lobo were the runners up and the winners led by Alyn Mendonca were Zone B who have been winning this feat for three years in a row. A well-deserved hat trick indeed for Zone B. KONCAB president Arun Fernandes, Vice president Sylvester D’Souza & Secretary Nora Menezes gave away the prizes to the winners.

KONCAB’s Santa Claus enacted by Subhash Periera entertained the children with gifts and chocolates.

Sunil D’Cunha conducted some fun events and the tambola for the members. The evening ended on a spirted note with all who attended swaying with their best foot forward to the music of DJ Godwin and DJ Stalen. Sumptuous Mangalurean food was being served to compliment the taste buds.

Jhonas D’Souza compered the programme and brought in the flow of events in order. The entire Christmas program was contrived and coordinated by KONCAB cultural secretary Navya Monteiro.
