Brahmavar, Dec 21: Dr S M Suresh, native of Barkur of Udupi district, has been appointed as the registrar of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
He happens to be the son of the late Lakshmi and late S M Rama Naik from Barkur. Dr Suresh was e student of National Primary School Hanehalli and National Junior College Barkur.
He obtained his Engineering degree from BMS Engineering College, Bengaluru, and did his post graduation through National Institute of Technology, Suratkal, Mangaluru. He completed his doctorate from Sambalpur University.
After serving Karnataka State Financial Corporation for a few years, he worked as professor at BMS College of Engineering Bengaluru. He served for 5 years as the director of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) of Ministry of Human Resources Development of the government of India and came to be appreciated for his transparent transformation he brought about during his tenure.
Now he has been appointed as the registrar of IIT Guwahati for the next 5 years.
His family comprises of two sons, Suraj B S, who is studying second year of Mechanical engineering at BMS College of Engineering Bengaluru, Saurav B S, studying in grade 9 and wife, Indira Suresh MSc, BEd working as a teacher in National Public School, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru.
