Dharwad, Sep 12: In a surprising development, a four year-old girl, who had been presumed as dead, suddenly got up and called out her mother, when the concerned started heaping mud on her, after laying her to rest in the freshly dug grave.
The girl in question, named Sharada Guddadavar from Vasana village of Nargund in the district, had been suffering from jaundice since about a month. She had been admitted into KLE Hospital in Belgaum for treatment. The doctors there had opined that the girl would not survive for long, as there was no improvement in her condition even after prolonged treatment. When the doctors told the girl's parents that it would be better to take her home as her days are counted, parents of Sharada gave their nod. While carrying their daughter home on Friday September 10, Sharada’s parents observed that the girl had stopped breathing midway through. Efforts to revive her by patting and calling her repeatedly, failed and the parents prepared for her funeral, concluding that the girl had died.
At around 8.30 pm on Friday, she was laid to rest in the grave and as the people started heaping mud on her, Sharada opened her eyes and called out her mother. The people, who had come for attending the funeral, were taken aback. It took some time for the people to doubly confirm that the girl was alive. The happy parents took the girl home from her grave. The girl's father, Tulasappa Jambagi, admitted his daughter, who lost consciousness thereafter, into KIMS Hospital in Hubli, after providing priliminary treatment at Naragund government hospital.
