Bengaluru, Dec 21: "Dakshina Kannada district was peaceful till former minister U T Khader, said that like in north and north-east parts of the country, this region will also burn. This came as an indirect support to communal forces and anti-social elements. If he had not spoken in that manner the situation would not have turned bad. The government should investigate his role in the violence and take action against him," demanded union minister, D V Sadananda Gowda.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Friday, December 20, Gowda noted that Dakshina Kannada district had remained peaceful and no communal clashes had happened there in the recent past. He said that whenever minor frictions arise in Mangaluru, Kodagu or Mysuru, fundamentalists and communalists from Kerala get involved and vitiate the atmosphere further.
"They claim lives and go back to their state. Congress party leaders have close connection with these anti-social elements," he stated. He also criticized the Congress for deputing a delegation to Mangaluru to assess the situation, duly reminding the party that this time is not suitable for such things.
Deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi, said that some people have been misleading the public by providing false information about Citizenship Amendment Act that was brought into force for security and unity of the county. He criticized U T Khader of supporting people to indulge in violence. He said that no community will face any injustice because of this act, and it has been decided to give citizenship to people who have migrated from other countries nd are living here for several years. He requested people to come together and work for peace and maintain law and order in the country.
