Mangaluru: DC promulgates prohibitory orders in DK district till Dec 21

Mangaluru, Dec 19: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, through an order, has enforced prohibitory orders till the midnight of December 21 in the entire district in view of the possibility of law order situation and public peace getting vitiated.

It may be recalled that city police commissioner, Dr P S Harsha, had promulgated prohibitory orders within the commissionerate limits from December 18 to midnight on December 20.

The police have information about certain organizations having given call for Bharath Bandh on December 19 and 20 in protest against implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act. As several areas falling within the city police commissionerate limits are considered to be super sensitive, the police department is apprehensive about the chances of law and order as well as public peace getting disturbed if protests, processions etc are organized. Therefore, the police commissioner, Dr P S Harsha, had enforced prohibitory orders. Now, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner too has now brought into force prohibitory orders.

    Using violence is condemnable, but silencing every voice of dissent is appalling in a democratic setup!

    Per newsreports, host of Savadhan India was sacked within 24 hrs after voicing his concern on CAB!!

    Violence protests cannot be equated with peaceful protests. People are resorting to violence in garb of peaceful protests. Police have to crush the violent protests , damaging public /private , with an iron hand. District police is doing the right thing in curbing the unlawful assembly with prohibitory orders.

    Administration can't suppression our right to protect against NRC / CAA / NPR.
    It is our right which ensures us in our constitution as 4th & 5th Pillar of Democracy.

    The same Constitution gives right to State Govt to form rules and LAW to curb protest if it is against the State. Govt is bound to safeguard the public from anti social elements as well save public property too

    Emergency or section 144 and police force, the present protest looks like continues until protesters demands are fulfilled. If continued these protests will bring lot's of inconvenience to public and imparts bad economical losses too.

    sheer nonsense. Are we under an occupying force or under British rule that dissent has to be suppressed? Even if you suppress it, you cannot wish it away. The State Govt. and DC are out of their mind.

    Any protests against CAA should be put off with force. I recommend a quick half day training for Mangalore police by Delhi police.
