Bagalkot: Devotee witnessing car festival crushed under chariot wheel

Bagalkot, Dec 18: A person died and another was injured during the car festival after they came under the wheels of a chariot in which the deity was being taken in a procession.

The incident happened at Lavaleshwara Tanda in Bagalkot taluk on Tuesday December 17. The deceased has been identified as Sharanappa Kambar. The deceased and the injured were from Jadramakunti village.

Siddarameshwara car festival was celebrated in their Tanda on a grand scale. Due to rush of people, Kambar fell down and a wheel of the huge chariot instantly crushed him, it is learnt.

A case about the incident was registered in Bagalkot rural police station.
