Panaji, Sep 8: The travellers landing in Goa will soon be scanned through thermal scanner to check the swine flu symptoms.
Union government has approved two thermal scanners for Goa which would be installed at state's international airport at Dabolim, an entry point for international travellers.
Goa will usher into the tourist season mid-september when first chartered flight bring in foreign tourists.
"Director of health services has received letter yesterday from union health informing that two thermal scanners are approved for Goa,'' Dr Jose de Sa, state nodal officer for swine flu, told reporters here.
Goa receives around 4 lakh foreign tourists mostly from destinations like UK and Russia.
De Sa said that health authorities will hold meeting with directorate of tourism and other hoteliers sensitising them on swine flu.
The hotels will have the signages which will educate tourists on the authorities to be contacted on finding swine flu symptoms.
De Sa said that posters and handbills would also be pasted at important touristic places.
The primary health centre officials across the state will also be asked to visit hotels and conduct swine flu orientation course for the staff.
Goa has three swine flu related deaths of which two were transmitted from Karnataka while one is indegenous. The state has reported 31 positive cases with H1N1 virus.
