Mangaluru, Dec 16: “Citizen Amendment bill (CAB) is unconstitutional and has already claimed several lives in the violence that has erupted after its passing,” said MLC Ivan D’Souza.

Addressing media here on Monday, December 16 Ivan D’Souza said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah are replicating the days of Gujarat in the country by dividing people on the basis of religion, which has led to the violence in the country. Police are also involved in violence setting fire to the vehicles and dragging students out of the campus.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy in election campaign and least bothered about the people. Several students have raised their voice against the CAB but Modi is neglecting their opinion. Modi and Amit Shah are misusing the power to implement CAB.

"It is shameful that some foreign countries have passed advisory to its citizens regarding the safety while visiting India. The law and order in the country has completely deteriorated, which made the president of Japan to cancel his visit to Guwahati. The GDP has come down drastically and we are facing severe economic crisis and even WHO has said that implementing CAB was not the right move,” he said.
