Puttur: Man injured in blast of explosive materials passes away

Puttur, Dec 16: Balakrishna Gowda, son of Kepu Gowda, who had suffered serious injuries after explosive materials stored at his home at Saralikana in Bettampady village exploded on the night of December 5, breathed his last around midnight of Saturday December 14.

Balakrishna Gowda, who used to manufacture different kinds of fancy explosives for fairs and festivals at his home, was injured when the materials suddenly exploded when he was handling them. His sister-in-law, Vedavathi, her daughter, Monika, and another person, Kartik, had suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Balakrishna, who was in a serious condition, was admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru. The other injured were treated at the government hospital here. Balakrishna, who had grave injuries in his hand and thigh regions, did not show improvement in his condition in spite of treatments given.

Gowda is survived by parents, wife, two daughters, a son, two brothers and four sisters.
