Mangaluru, Dec 14: “Jagatika Bantara Sanghagala Okkoota has already been extending monetary help to educational organizations and temples facing economic constraints. The help will be continued in future also,” said the president of the Okkoota Aikala Harish Shetty.
He addressed a gathering at Patrika Bhavan here on Saturday after distributing furniture to Kutluru Government School and salary to the guest teachers.
“A strong society is possible only with a good education. The Okkoota is doing social work with help from entrepreneurs from Mumbai and donors. We have provided special help to education, health and social sectors. None of the requests for monetary help has been rejected so far. There is a request to adopt Kutlur school and the decision will be taken at the meeting of the sangha,” he said.
Kutlur Government School development committee member, Ramachandra Bhat said that the help from Jagatika Bantara Sangha is useful for the education of children. “The picture of the school has changed after Dakshina Kannada district journalist’s association had a village stay programme at the school,” he said.
District working Journalist’s Association president, Srinivas Nayak Indaje who presided over the programme, said that the association had conducted a village stay brand Mangaluru, workshop for journalists, health camp for journalists and other camps. “Several of the demands of the journalists association have been met.”
Okkoota president, Aikala Harish Shetty was felicitated. Patrika Bhavan Trust president, Anand Shetty, state working journalists association executive member, Jagannath Bala was present. Committee member, Bhasker Rai Katta compered the programme. Vijay Kotian Padu rendered the vote of thanks.
