Mangaluru: Entrepreneurship workshop held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Dec 13: Entrepreneurship Development Forum (EDF), Unnathi, of St Agnes College (Autonomous), on Thursday December 12 organized a one-day workshop and trade fair – EMPRESARIO in the campus to inspire the aspiring entrepreneurs.

The workshop began with a formal inaugural by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Athmika Amin, entrepreneur and director of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, principal, St Agnes College, Dr Devi Prabha Alva, convenor of the event, Rodney Vaz, co-convenor, Aaisha, the student secretary were the dignitaries present on the dais.



Athmika Amin addressed the budding entrepreneurs on her journey of becoming an entrepreneur. She also suggested to them to make use of the facilities and improve all other traits of an individual along with academic knowledge to become a better entrepreneur. Sr Dr Jeswina AC in her presidential address said, “Something should ignite within you to take initiation, leadership for you to create the job for yourself. Desire, determination and goodwill are needed to become a successful entrepreneur."

The workshop had five different speakers for the various sessions on entrepreneurship. Safan Sheikh, a motivational speaker and entrepreneur spoke on entrepreneurship as something that should be built and gained which needs proper direction and commitment. Ganesh Sharma, regional director of BNI, Mangaluru, spoke on time management and significance. Shubha Baliga, advocate and former member of legal services authority and former lecturer in Criminology at Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, spoke on entrepreneurial leadership qualities. Sanchia Nazareth, an alumna and event co-ordinator briefed on Prospects and challenges on startups. Mohan Raj, vice-president of BNI, Mangaluru and director, Bright HR Solutions and Services shared his expertise on various facilities and schemes for women entrepreneurship.

During the lunch break at the college, the student members of EDF conducted a trade fair and had food and game counters which attracted a huge crowd with home-made dishes and fun-filled games. The day was fruitful and energetic.

In the afternoon session, the students shared their experiences of sale and expressed their happiness for gaining an entrepreneurial experience for the first time in their life.
