Udupi: Bike rider killed in accident involving pedestrian

Udupi, Dec 12: In an accident which happened in front of Shankarpura church on Katapady - Shirva main road in Kurkalu village on the night of Tuesday December 10, a motor bike rider lost his life.

The deceased has been identified as Sooda Ponpady Nityananda Nayak (59), resident of ALN Layout, Mannapalla, Manipal. He was moving to his residence at Manipal from Bantakal along with daughter, Prathvi in his motorbike, when he lost control over the two-wheeler in front of Shankarpura church and dashed against a pedestrian who was standing by the roadside. Thereafter, he fell to the road and died on the spot.

Pillion rider Prathvi, suffered minor injuries near her foot. Pedestrian in question, Uday, was injured in his forehead and left lag. He stands admitted into the government hospital at Ajjarkad here.

A case relating to this accident stands registered in Ajjarkad hospital.
