Kundapur: Grand welcome for Asian powerlifting winners Satish Kharvi, Nagashree Sherugar

Kundapur, Dec 12: Sathish Kharvi and Nagashree Sherugar Uppinakudru, natives of the taluk, who arrived for the first time in the town after winning medals in Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship at Khazakistan, were given a grand welcome.

Satish Kharvi, manager of New Hercules Gym at Kharvikeri of Kundapur, won three golds and one silver in the championship while Nagashree Sherugar of Uppinakudru has bagged one gold and three silver medals.



K Raju, assistant commissioner of Kundapur sub-division welcomed the due and congratulated them. Former president of town municipality Vasanti Mohan Saranga, former vice-president Rajesh Kaveri, member of town municipality G K Girish, chief secretary of Billava organization Manju Billava, eminent personalities of Shri Mahakali temple Jayananda Kharvi, Chandrashekar Kharvi, Satish from Rotary Sunrise, Congress leader Ganesh, entrepreneur Mahesh, other notable personalities like Hussain Haikadi, Ashok Kumar Kodi, Arun Bana, other known personalities of the town, hundreds of public and members of Hercules Gym congratulated the winners.

Both Satish and Nagashree had paid a visit to Dharmasthala before arriving at their home town and sought blessings from Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade. Later they arrived to Kundapur in open jeep and were welcomed with Chende drums and trumpets.
