Mangaluru, Dec 10: Eminent interventional cardiologist and associate professor at KMC Hospital, Dr Narasimha Pai was honoured with the prestigious Prime Time Icon Award for his contribution to the field of cardiology. The award was conferred by minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey during a ceremony held at New Delhi. Also present at the event were, Prof Rita Bahuguna Joshi, MP, Chetan Chauhan, minister of Youth & Sports of Uttar Pradesh and Shyam Jaju, national vice president of BJP.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Narasimha Pai, interventional cardiologist, KMC Hospital said, "It is an honour to receive the Prime Time Icon Award from our minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey. I have always believed in giving back to society. This award is an encouragement for me to push myself to continue working for the community with the knowledge I possess and is definitely a landmark recognition not only to my career but also to KMC Hospital, Mangaluru."
Dr Narasimha Pai has a large number of publications to his credit in peer-reviewed journals over the years, and has complemented this with various presentations at industry conferences. He has also been involved in imparting training as a lecturer at Grant Medical College in Mumbai for three months, and as assistant professor in the department of Cardiology at the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal.
Dr Pai completed his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore in 1998 and 2002 respectively. He then went on to obtain his DM (Cardiology) from Grant Medical College & JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai. He also has to his credit the coveted DNB (Cardiology) title from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
Dr Pai has been a top ranker right through his academic career, having collected various awards including Best Outgoing MD (Medicine) Graduate Award, and the Dr. TMA Pai Gold Medal for the Best Outgoing MBBS Student.
