Kundapur: Theft at Goddess Chowdeshwari temple - Cash, ornaments, lost

Kundapur, Dec 10: Thieves broke into Goddess Chowdeshwari temple at Movadi in Trasi village and took away cash and ornaments. The thieves entered the temple by smashing the lock of the main door.

The temple is located at Kalyani Honda in Movadi. The lock of the front door and also of the sanctum sanctorum were broken. Some gold and silver ornaments adorning the deity were stolen. The donation box of the temple was also found to have been emptied by the thieves.

Priest of the temple, Nagesh, had closed the temple door after the night Puja on Sunday. When he came back to the temple to perform morning puja on Monday, he came to know that the temple had been burgled.

Gangolli police were informed about the theft. A team of police visited the temple and conducted verification. On the basis of complaint made by a local, Praveen, a case was registered in Gangolli police station.
