Panaji, Sep 5:
National Film Development Corporation of India’s (NFDC) fiction film based on life of a forest guard on Goa-Karnataka border is the part of film list for the Toronto film festival scheduled this September.

The script conceived by a Goan filmmaker Laxmikant Shetgaonkar was selected by NFDC during its event in International film festival of Goa (IFFI) in Panaji.

The film titled `Paltadcho monis' (The man beyond the bridge) is produced by NFDC and co-produced by Entertainment Society of Goa, a state-government promoted body.

Shetgaonkar, a product of Goa Kala Academy’s theatre art course, has shot this film in Konkani, Goa’s official language spoken by majority in the state.

The film is about a forest guard living on Goa-Karnataka border where he meets an insane woman in his courtyard and thus begins his journey.  The flick takes on parallel perspective of a rural Indian village and the politics within.

It’s a matter to rejoice for the Goans that the film was selected amongst the 3,000 international entries.
