Udupi, Dec 9: In this competitive world, everyone is busy. People build dreams and try to fulfill them. But it seems like brakes are applied to the dreams and ambitions of people due to the traffic issues. Bengaluru, the silicon city, often faces this problem. But now, Udupi, which is known as town of temples, is facing the similar problem. Transportation has become a problem for the people in Udupi. Traffic jams are often witnessed in the main junctions of the society.
Businessmen, who have scheduled their appointments with their clients, government officials who were punctual in their duty, students who are attending for the job interviews and more than this, a person in ambulance who is fighting for his or her life, and many more people are facing such problems daily because of traffic issues.
There are many cities like Udupi where the population is more but no such traffic problems are reported. There is no doubt in the efficiency of traffic policemen of Udupi. The main reason for the traffic issues are the commercial complexes which are violating laws. According to the zoning regulation, a commercial complexes has to allot parking area for its customers and also follow rules and regulations. But most of the commercial complexes and residential complexes are not following these rules. Cars and motor bikes are often witnessed parked besides the road which is causing the parking problems as well as the traffic jams.
Udupi is known as land of literates. But such move and neglecting zonal regulations, makes the people of Udupi ashamed. Literacy is of no use when one cannot follow the basic rules and regulations. Tourists from different parts of the world come to Udupi to witness the Lord Sri Krishna temple and also the tourist spots in Udupi district. A person witnessing traffic jams and parking issues will surely have a bad impression of Udupi city. This also shows the failure of the district administration in safeguarding the zonal regulations.
People have a strong opinion that on Saturdays and Sundays it is better to stay in home rather than stepping out to shopping, which ends up in a traffic jam. People sometimes spend more than half an hour in the traffic near Kalsanka and the mission to reach the destination gets delayed.
When any problems are reported people start blaming one another. Instead of blaming the officials, problems can be solved when public, authorities, builders and politicians commute and discuss the issues and work towards it. People have trust and faith in the district administration as well as the government. The government and the authorities must ensure that the problems must be sorted out soon so that the people’s faith and trust towards them remains forever.
