Beltangady: ''Govt's instability will end with bypoll result' - Yediyurappa

Beltangady, Dec 9: State chief minister B S Yediyyurappa, expressed the confidence that the political instability that is bothering the state will come to an end with the announcement of result relating to bypoll held to 15 assembly constituencies.

He was speaking after unveiling various works costing Rs 347 crore being undertaken within Beltangady assembly constituency limits, at a programme held at Ratnavarma Heggade stadium, Ujire, on Sunday December 8.

Yediyurappa promised to transform Karnataka into a model state during the next three and half years of his remaining rule. "We will provide clean, honest and efficient administration. We will meet the aspirations of the legislators. By meeting the aspirations of the people, we will 150 seats in the next assembly election," he stated.

The chief minister promised to open healthcare centres for endosulfan victims, duly recalling that MP, Shobha Karandlaje, had taken special interest in this issue and had put in efforts to improve the quality of life of endosulfan-affected people. He also announced the creation of a new revenue division, Kaniyoor, within this taluk. He said that work on vented dam at Dharmasthala across River Netravati will be taken up soon.

Deputy chief minister Govind Karjol, speaking on the occasion, said that out of Rs 347 crore released for this constituency, Rs 101 crore has been earmarked for the betterment of roads. "This work is being undertaken by PWD, and we have asked officials to complete all pending road works before March 31," he stated.

Karjol said that MLA Harish Punja, had urged to release ten crore rupees more, and that five crore rupees has already been released from the backward classes regional development fund, and five crore more would be released soon.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Harish Punja, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Vedavyas Kamath and Rajesh Naik, zilla panchayat president Meenakshi Shantigodu, Beltangady taluk panchayat president Divyajyoti, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Dayanand Kattalsar, deputy commissioner of the district Sindhu B Rupesh, western range inspector general of police Arun Chakravarty, district superintendent of police Laxmi Prasad, and zilla panchayat executive officer R Selvamani were present.
