Mangaluru, Dec 7: The district administration is making an effort to give a peaceful end to the raging controversy over the ouster of renowned Yakshagana Bhagawath, Patla Sathish Shetty, from Kateel Melas. The Dakshina Kannada district administration has served notice on Patla Sathish Shetty, convener of Kateel Melas, Kalladi Deviprasad Shetty, and Kateel temple management to be present for talks to be held at the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) in the presence of the DC on Saturday December 7.
The meeting is being arranged at the behest of Patla Sathish Shetty in the presence of the deputy commissioner, who also is the district officer for endowments department. The talks will be held behind the doors in the afternoon.
District administration sources said that talks are being held to discuss circumstances under which the talented Bhagawath was shown the doors by Kateel Mela management, and the possibility of allowing Patla Sathish Shetty to re-join the Yakshagana Melas in the current year's tour.
