Karkala: Tourist vehicle knocks down, kills pillion rider

Karkala, Dec 7: In a tragic accident which happened at Parappady here on Friday, December 6 afternoon, a tourist vehicle which hit a motorbike from behind, caused the death of a youth riding the pillion. The victim has been identified as Swapnil.

Sharath Poojary (23) was riding the motorbike that was also carrying Swapnil, towards the town from the direction of Naravi when a tourist vehicle that was driven by Padmaprasad Poojary hit the bike from behind. Swapnil, who was jolted by this sudden movement, fell to the road at which the wheel of the tourist vehicle instantly crushed him, killing him on the spot.

The motorbike rider stands admitted into the taluk government hospital here with injuries to his head and hands.

On the complaint made by the bike rider, Karkala rural police have registered a complaint against the driver of the tourist vehicle.
