Udupi, Dec 7: Ayushman Bharat scheme has been implemented so that poor and medium class people may obtain free health service. It is combined with Arogya Karnataka scheme at present.
As many as 1,791 beneficiaries have taken advantage of the scheme in Udupi from October, 2018 to March, 2019. 7,706 beneficiaries have received treatment worth Rs 2351.13 lac till November end in Udupi during the current season.
Treatment worth 394.76 lac to 1436 beneficiaries in Karkala, 1,004.79 lac to 3,257 beneficiaries in Kundapur and Rs 954.58 lac worth treatment is provided in Udupi taluk in the current season.
As many as 2,550 in Udupi district hospital, 490 in Karkala and 952 beneficiaries in Kundapur have received surgery and other treatment without referrals.
In Dakshina Kannada district, Wenlock, Oncology hospital, A J Shetty, and Deralakatte K S Hegde hospital are registered for the scheme. In Udupi district, KMC Manipal, Adarsh hospital, Prasad Netralaya and Hitech hospital are registered under Ayushman Bharat Karnataka referral. Facilities that are not available in government hospitals can be obtained here under referral system.
It is the intention of Ayushman Bharat scheme to upgrade government hospital and provide quality treatment to the poor. Udupi stands 8th in the number of beneficiaries of the scheme. More than three lac Ayushman AB-A R K cards are distributed in Udupi. “It stands second in the state in the distribution of cards,” said Ayushman Bharat health Karnataka organizer Jagannath.
