Karkala, Sep 4: The policemen of Karkala have succeeded in solving the case of the death of Dinesh (25), son of the late Ravi Poojary from Kadaili in Kudyadi village near Naravi of Beltangady taluk, who was working as kitchen helper in a bar near Kottara, on August 5, under suspicious circumstances. Dinesh had left the bar on July 29, informing that he would go his native place, but was found lying with grievous injuries near his house on August 3. After treating him at Naravi Hospital, he was being taken to Karkala Hospital, when he breathed his last.
The case had posed challenge to the policemen, as Dinesh himself had not revealed the details of the assault till last day, but had said just before death, that he had been to Sakleshpur on an invitation of a girl named Rashmi over mobile, and that he was beaten up by a gang there. On the basis of the mobile number, the policemen went to Belgaum and found out the owner of the mobile. The policemen said that the husband of Shobha, who owns the mobile, and some others had assaulted Dinesh on July 31. Police investigations have revealed that Dinesh’s claim of visiting Sakleshpur was false. He had actually gone to Belgaum, to meet Shobha, who talked to him over mobile phone by posing herself as Rashmi, after he started loving her on the basis of frequent conversations on the mobile. Four accused have been arrested and it is gathered that they confessed to the crime.
Initially, Karkala policemen had transferred the case to Sakleshpur, but the police station there re-transferred the same to Karkala, as they failed to make any headway. Thereafter, the Karkala policemen, with the help of the policemen of Belgaum, succeeded in finding out the culprits.
