Udupi, Dec 5: Udupi District Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organization protested against the brutal murder and rape of veterinary doctor, Priyanka Reddy from Telangana. The protest was held on Thursday December 5 at the head post office, here.
Doctor Priyanka Reddy from Telangana was gang-raped and brutally murdered by the criminals on her return home from duty. Nation-wide protests have been taking place against the inhuman crime. Udupi District Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organization conducted a protest demanding justice for Priyanka Reddy and the quick and proper investigation of the case.
Roshni Oliver, district convenor of Udupi District Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organization stated that the criminals who were found guilty in Priyanka Reddy's case must be immediately sentenced to death. Also, proper law must be implemented so that no such inhumane events take place. She also opined that even after so many years of Independence to the nation, women are not independent. Their life is always made insecure by such criminals. The President of the country must ensure that proper law is brought into act so that women do not face such problems in the future.
Dr Sunitha Shetty, member of taluk panchayat took part in the protest and said that Suchita, Vamshi, Nirbhaya have been victims of gang-rape and have lost their lives and now Priyanka Reddy too has lost her life on account of the cruel act of the criminals. Society and the public must raise their voice and the government must respond soon without any delay and ensure that proper law is enforced so that no woman or girl becomes a victim of such an inhumane act. The criminals in Priyanka Readdy's case must be sentenced to death without any delay. She also expressed that society cannot tolerate such incidents any more and that the government must enforce a law so that the women are in a safe environment.
