Hassan, Dec 5: The fierce battle for supremacy going on between the BJP and the JD(S) in K R Pet constituency spilled over to Nambihalli farm house in Dandiganahalli in Channarayapatna taluk on the night of Tuesday December 3. JD(S) workers suddenly attacked BJP supporters and left BJP workers injured and vehicles damaged.

BJP activist from Bengaluru Anand Hosur, Vijayanagar Yuva Morcha president Naveen Sait, and a local Madhu, suffered serious injuries. They were admitted into a hospital at Bengaluru. Santosh and car driver, Praveen, sustained minor injuries. As the police reached the spot immediately, the situation did not go out of control.

A case against six persons including Dr Suraj Revanna, son of former minister H D Revanna, was registered in Chabnarayanapatna rural police station. BJP workers said that the attackers were armed with machetes.

Former minister H D Revanna, speaking at Hassan, said that a protest demonstration will be held in front of the office of the district superintendent of police here on December 6 against naming his son Suraj Revanna, as the main accused, even though he was not present when the incident happened. He accused deputy chief minister Ashwath Narayan, of staying at Nambihalli Dindiganathalli for distributing money and liquor.

"I can handle Yediyurappa. In spite of what operation he undertakes, we can tame him, and I have the experience of having sized up many people like him. He is managing the election by using money accumulated by corrupt officials," he fumed.

BJP activist, Santosh, said that since a week, he and others had stayed at his farmhouse in Nambihalli and those campaigning for the party too had reached there at night on Tuesday. He said that about 150 persons holding machetes and sticks suddenly attacked them and pelted stones on Tuesday night. "When we tried to escape by running to a nearby house, the attackers chased her there and attacked us. Local JD(S) leader Dr Suraj Revanna, had organized this attack," he said.

Deputy chief minister Dr C H Ashwath Narayan, said that it is unfortunate that such an attack was launched under the leadership of MLA, H D Revanna's son. He said that the incident would have resulted in unimaginable damage and injuries but for the timely arrival of the police. He pointed out to the JD(S) workers that there is law and everyone should try to bring good system in the society, not destroy it by taking law into their hands.
