Mangaluru, Dec 4: Former minister and MLA U T Khader, has condemned the recent attack on Congress party workers at Meramajalu and Ira.
Addressing the media here on Thursday December 4, Khader said, "The police are investigating the case and hunting for the persons behind these attacks. Recently, Meramajalu gram panchayat member Yogish Prabhu and his wife Shobha were attacked at their house. Even the Ira village panchayat president was attacked by three men at November 30.

He also said, "I condemn the attacks on Congress party workers. Law and order situation in Mangaluru is deteriorating. Such incidents should not happen again, and the police should conduct detailed investigation into these cases.”
Khader also warned the concerned against testing the patience of the Congress supporters as he said his party believes in good law and order and universal brotherhood and therefore, will not take law into their hands.
"I have spoken to the district superintendent of police and city police commissioner with regard to recent incidents. I will also speak with the home minister and chief minister once the elections are over. Police have to bring out truth on why the attackers singled out our party workers and from where liquor and drugs were supplied to them," he added.
When asked about the security provided to him, Khader said," I have not accepted the facility as of now and am not at all interested to have a gunmen for my security. I never had police around me when i was minister. Police could have averted the attack on Tanveer Sait if the intelligence network had been efficiently managed by the police", he stated.
Khader also urged the authorities to exempt toll to the locals of Talapady who are staying within the radius of five kilometres of the tollgate and the same facility should be continued there. He also suspected that some lobby was working behind the mandatory introduction of FASTag.
