Bengaluru, Dec 4: The personnel of the central crime branch here have arrested Sudhendra Shinde, a member of management committee of Karnataka State Cricket Association, for his role in fixing Karnataka Premier League (KPL) T20 cricket tournament. The police reportedly have found out that Shinde, acting in connivance with Belagavi Panthers KPL team owner Ali Asfak Thara, had fixed a few cricket matches.
City police joint commissioner, Sandeep Patil, stated that Shinde would be presented in the court on Wednesday December 4. The police proposed to seek police custody of Shinde, he revealed, as the police want to grill him to find out whether he was involved with fixing of other matches, and whether other persons were involved with him in this scandal.
Sudhendra Shinde
Shinde had opened the innings for some matches for Karnataka in Ranji matches in the past. He was the coach of Belagavi Panthers team. Ali was arrested quite some time back and the match fixing allegations have brought disrepute to KPL matches.
Shinde had worked for Bijapur Bulls KPL team in the past. He had become member of KSCA managing committee recently.
