Udupi: Prof Udyavara Madhava Acharya chosen for Alevoor Group Award

Udupi, Dec 4: Renowned theater personality Prof Udyavara Madhava Acharya has been chosen for the prestigious Alevoor Group Award instituted by Alevoor Group for Education, Alevoor.

Writer of small stories, essays, dramas, a poet, a theater artist and director, Prof Acharya has been known for his creative theater activities nationwide. Former minister, government of Karnataka, Pramod Madhwaraj will present Alevoor Group Award including a silver plaque during the annual day celebrations of Shanthiniketan English Medium School, to be held on December 7, at 2.30 pm. Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpura Prof Vincent Alva will be the guest of honour. President of Alevoor Group for Education A Ganapathi Kini will preside over the programme, said secretary of Alevoor Group for Education Alevoor Dinesh Kini, in a press release.

In the past, the Alevoor Group Award, instituted in the year 2005, had been presented to octogenarian P Rabeendra Nayak, environmentalist N Murari Ballal (posthumously), artist Ramesh Rao, renowned social worker Dr S Ramananda Bhat (posthumously), former district surgeon Dr U M Vaidya, president of Alva’s Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva, noted advocate Shirthady William Pinto, Kannada novelist Sara Aboobakar, renowned Gynecologist Dr Pratap Kumar, noted educationist Prof M D Nanjunda, popular psychiatrist Dr P V Bhandary, Ornithologists Dr N A Madhyastha, art critic A Ishwaraiah, Tulu folk scholar Dr Y N Shetty, magician and shadow play artiste Prof Prahalada Acharya and director of Little Rock Indian School Prof Mathew C Ninan and astronomer Dr A P Bhat.
