Udupi, Dec 4: Peer groups of Udupi and Kaup staged a protest by tying black ribbon to their mouth at Martyrs Memorial Ajjarkad here on Tuesday, December 3, condemning the brutal rape and murder of Dr Priyanka Reddy.

The protest was held with the slogan 'Change the Law and Hang the Rapists'.

Addressing the gathering, Pramod Ucchila said, “These days, rape cases are increasing in the nation. The law should be changed. Convicts are safe in prison and enjoying hospitality. An accused should get punishment according to the crime committed. There is strict punishment for rapists in Arab (overseas) countries. Likewise, strict laws should be implemented in India to control rapes.”

Hammad Udupi, Madhav, Yadav Kaup, Yasin Udupi, Hamraz Kaup, Sahid, Imran, Abeed and students of Vidynikethana School were present.
