Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala awarded ‘Kayakalpa’ certificate

Udupi, Dec 3: Kasturba Hospital Manipal and Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala have been awarded with ‘Kayakalpa’ certificate for the year 2019-20. Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, government of India, evaluated and awarded with the certificate in recognition of hospitals efforts towards excellence in promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control in the Hospital contributing to improved quality of
care as per the guidelines.

The Kayakalp Award was instituted as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on May 15, 2015, as a national initiative to recognize and felicitate public health facilities that demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control measure on promoting cleanliness in public spaces. Private healthcare facilities are also now assessed on parameters of the 'Kayakalp' scheme, a government initiative to promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices.

Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Katutura Hospital, Manipal appreciated the efforts of the whole team of Kasturba Hospital Manipal and Dr TMA Rotary Hospital Karkala and said “Cleanliness and hygiene in hospitals, besides being critical for preventing infections, also provide the patients and visitors with a positive experience and encourages moulding behaviour related to cleanliness and sanitation at their homes and work-place.”
