Mangaluru, Dec 3: ‘In-Unity 2K19’ was organized at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, with the intention of fuelling the passion to innovate and lead in the youth of the country, Monday, December 2.
On this occasion, Sahyadri got to host three eminent personalities, Elena Churina, chairman, Agency for Innovative Development of Regions; Kim Peng Foo, adjunct associate professor, entrepreneurship, Singapore University Technology Design and Dr Abhishek Vaish, who has served as the head of Science and Technology Wing of the Embassy of India, Moscow, as the panel of judges.
Over the decade, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management has emerged as an innovation hub in the region through its initiatives to drive community based innovations and practices that have given rise to industries and start-ups in the region.
An insight into In-Unity 2019
A campus tour was conducted to give a clear insight on what Sahyadri College is doing, what its vision is and how it is realising its vision.
Fifteen teams including winners of Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) 2019 pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. Each team was allotted five minutes for presentation and three minutes of Q&A session. These shortlisted projects had training for the last two weeks to help pitch these ideas.
What SSTH strives to do?
• Sensitise over 15,000 individuals to the community problems and encourage them to be problem solvers rather than solution seekers.
• Create a platform for over 2,500 budding enthusiasts and innovators across schools and colleges to propose solutions for community based problems.
• Create a platform for local innovators. Investors, industrialists, influencers to support and nurture ideas that can uplift the lifestyle of the individuals of the community.
• To incubate 5 ideas that has the potential to impact the lives of many.
Round Table Conference was held on the following topics
• Creating a global innovation ecosystem.
• Capacity Building through international Collaboration
• Making start-up Incubators self-reliant
• Investment / Funding opportunities from international Organisation.
Recommendations will be compiled and shared with all the relevant bodies (in the government), universities and higher educational institutions, and with other concerned stakeholders.
Five teams have been selected for incubation under the Sahyadri Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Interaction with the launch pads
An interactive session with the entrepreneurial aspirants of Sahyadri was organized so that they can benefit from the insights of the international delegates. Students with an incredible caliber and brilliant ideas got to pitch the same to these guests and five teams from the sixteen that pitched are to be incubated here.
