Udupi, Aug 31: After a lorry carrying bags of chemical fertilizers hit a tempo on national highway 17 on Sunday August 30, the lorry turned turtle and fell across the road. The tempo had developed some technical problems and therefore, had got stranded on the highway earlier. The incident happened on Sunday August 30 afternoon and thereafter, traffic was affected for over two and half hours on the highway.
The truck was moving from Mangalore towards Udupi. The truck driver made last-minute efforts to avoid coming into contact with the stranded tempo, as a result of which, the truck overturned. The truck was moved aside after prolonged efforts extending to over two hours, with the help of cranes.
People in the tempo and the truck have escaped without any danger to lives. Kaup policemen have registered a case.
