Mangaluru, Nov 30: St Mary’s PU College, here, celebrated its Annual Day on November 28 at the college auditorium.
Sr M Shubha AC, secretary of the Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Karnataka province was the chief guest of the function.
Cynthia Mathias and Ashalatha Maria Samuel were the guests of honour. The dignitaries were welcomed at the college gate with a guard of honour by the students and were led solemnly to their seats.
The programme commenced with a prayer song and a welcome dance. Sr Sahaya Mary A, the principal of the college welcomed the gathering.
Sr M Shubha in her keynote address congratulated the parents for choosing this college for their daughters for PU studies. She also made them understand the evil effects of media on the younger generation and the responsibility and the necessity to guard them against its effects.
Followed by the toppers in the previous public exam, the meritorious students and the student council were honoured with mementoes and certificates.

The cultural programme consisted of a Marati dance, a Hindi skit on ‘Manav Ki Lalach Ki Parinam’, K Pop Dance, Tulu Nadu Vaibhava, Retro to Metro. The annual college report was presented, which highlighted the various activities and achievements of the college.
The programme concluded with a tableau based on the theme ‘Be the Light of the World’.
The cultural programme was compered by Aysha Mafaz and Ayesha Rafiq Sheikh. Singing of the National Anthem brought the Annual Day celebration to an end.
