Mangaluru, Nov 29: MSNM Besant Institute of Post Graduate Studies organized a crash course in 'National eligibility test and state level eligibility test' (UGC– NET/SLET) for the faculty members of the various educational institutions and post graduation students of the region.
This test determines the eligibility of Indians for Lecturer or Assistant/Associate Professorship & Junior Research Fellowship.
The two-day programme held at MSNM Besant campus at Bondel, here on November 21 and 22 was to acquaint UGC-NET/SLET aspirants to clear the exams. 72 participants from 23 colleges attended the programme.
Dr Sathish Kumar Shetty P, principal, Besant Women’s College inaugurated the programme. He stressed on the relevance of the UGC NET / SLET exams in selecting candidates for fellowship and lectureship. “Besides serving as a noble profession, government faculty positions offer better work hours, an attractive salary package and other benefits,” he said. He urged the participants to undertake research after successful completion of the NET / SLET exams in order to build a good career in teaching. “Stay calm and focused, prepare well and never lose confidence.”
Prof Ajaya, faculty, Government First Grade College, Mudipu, Dr Therese Pereira, faculty, Government First Grade College, Car Street, Dr Ravisha B and Prof Muddassir Khadar, faculty members of MSNM Besant Institute of PG Studies were the resource persons for the training programme.
Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, director, MSNM Besant Institute presided over the function. Prof Chandrika welcomed the gathering. Prof Ashalatha presented a vote of thanks. Prof Nanditha Sunil compered the programme. Prof Suresh Shenoy was the programme coordinator.
