Bantwal: Illegal sand mining - Three boats seized, sheds cleared at Thumbe

Bantwal, Nov 29: Two teams of officials conducted raids on illegal sand docks which had come upon the banks of River Netravati at Thumbe - Pudu village. During the operation, three boats were seized, and sheds which were illegally built were cleared.

A team of officials from mines and geology department undertook operation with the support of police on Thursday morning. Three boats used for illegal sand extraction were seized. The team then informed the revenue department about the temporary sheds which were built in government land.

Geologist of mines and geology department, Padmashree, Bantwal ASP Saidul Adavat and staff took part in the operation. In another operation, illegal sheds were demolished, Padmashree stated.

A team of revenue officials led by tahsildar, Rashmi S R, went to Paraneeru where illegal sheds were built for housing temporary workers in government land. 22 sheds were removed. Another similar operation at Innoli was led by a team of Mangaluru tahsildar, Guruprasad, it is gathered.

Panemangalore revenue inspector, Rama Katipalla, village accountant, Prashanth and other officials participated in the drive to clear sheds.
