Udupi, Nov 28: “Udupi municipal council has invited tenders on directions from the deputy commissioner to remove sledge beneath Hiriadka Suvarna River from Baje dam till Shirur dam at a length of seven kilometres for the purpose of drinking water. Yojaka India company Mangaluru has taken over the tender.

The district administration intends to segregate sand from the sledge and sell it to people at low rates.

Therefore, people should cooperate on both sides of the rivulet to enable contractors, vehicles and dredging machinery pass by. Cases will be registered against those who damage the machinery or hinder their movement troubling contractors. Legal action will be taken against them,” stated Udupi municipal council president in a press communication.
