Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)
Mangalore, Aug 28: 'Yuva Milan - 2009' programme was organized under the aegis of Bondel unit of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) at the Bondel school hall on Sunday, August 23.
The programme was initiated by invoking the blessings of the Almighty through a prayer. Vicar, Fr Antony Serrao, presided over the programme. Assistant vicar, Fr Ronald Pinto and church parish vice-president Rudolph Pinto and secretary Reginald D'Souza participated as chief guests. Hemacharya, editor of 'Daijiworld Weekly' took part in the programme as resource person. ICYM president Stevan Noronha and secretary Jenita Lobo were present at the dais.
Stevan Noronha welcomed. The guests inaugurated the programme by joining in lighting the lamp. In his message, the assistant vicar described the youths as the strong pillars of the parish. In his presidential address, vicar, Fr Antony Serrao, advised the younger generation to move on the right direction by seeking guidance from the elders.
The assistant vicar then oversaw an 'ice-breaking' programme undertaken for enabling the gathering to get introduced to each other. Resource person Hemacharya dwelt in detail, on the subject, 'influence of the media on the youth'. ICYM central committee director, Fr Anil D'Souza spoke on the 'role of the youth in parish'. He also offered Mass on the occasion.
Delicious food was served to those present on this occasion. 130 youths took part in the programme. Edwin Mendonca compered the programme. Wilfred Alvaris proposed vote of thanks.
