Beltangady, Nov 27: "The vented dam at the bathing bay at Dharmasthala would be developed before the onset of monsoon. For the improvement of tourism and development of skill among the youngsters, we are planning to set up industries towards improving availability of employment," said Karnataka deputy chief minister, Dr Ashwath Narayan.
He verified the vented dam near the bathing bay at Dharmasthala that has been damaged, during his participation in the Sarva Dharma Sammelan here on Tuesday November 26. He held discussions with the officials and spoke to the media.
He said that a proposal for Rs 2.6 crore towards repair of vented dam meant for supply of drinking water to the public that was damaged due to floods has been proposed. As this is a religious centre where lot of devotees come, we will undertake development works before the next monsoon, he promised.
When the media questioned him about construction of vented dam across Neriya rivulet to provide water to Dharmasthala, Charmadi road etc during summer, he said that already an announcement has been made about Rs 14 crore project there but the cabinet is yet to a take a call. He said he will make efforts to get the needful early.
